Get your degree, get practice, keep photos of your work, and then head to NY or CA. Once there you should be able to find a school that you can continue to train with while you are working. Then start applying for jobs as an apprentice, particularly working with photographers to do make up and hair for their clients shoots.

Then it just builds from there. What do i need to prepare for to become a make-up artist?

this is a listing of schools here in Maryland, I would first build a good clientele here before heading away from home, save pics and build your portfolio...dont think you need to only serve the rich or famous to make money, I am planning my weddng and I am going to have to pay 100.00 just for someone to do MY make-up that day thats not including the 75.00 each for my bridesmaids or the $$$$ to have my hair done...Are you going to graduate with a certificate in cosmetology? if so you can start work at any salon(probably not the best ones since you wont have much experience)while you are going to school you can work and get the experience needed to get a better job.Once you've got the experience and schooling under your belt and have a good portfolio then you can start contacting some of the large cosmetics companies and salons in NY and CA. With enough experience you can actually become a consultant for the large companies themselves..ie MAC and Bobbie Brown or even an independant dealer/cosmetologist.Good Luck.
