What is the ingredient in make-up that darker-toned women should avoid to prevent an ';ashy'; appearance?

I think it was discussed on one of those TLC makeover shows. It was that gay guy on the ';10 years younger'; show that mentioned it...What is the ingredient in make-up that darker-toned women should avoid to prevent an ';ashy'; appearance?
titanium dioxide!!!!

Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Foundation SPF 15 ($25)

Pros: Broad-spectrum sun protection from 25% titanium dioxide; mica-based formula has a lighter texture than those based on bismuth oxychloride; Plenty of good shades for fair to medium skin tones; widely available at Sephora stores or the company鈥檚 own boutiques.

Cons: Shiny finish that appears sparkling on skin; can look heavy and be more difficult to blend than standard talc-based powder foundations; absorbent nature of the titanium dioxide and bismuth oxychloride can make skin feel uncomfortably dry by the end of the day; may pool into pores and change color on persons with very oily skin or oily areas; shades for dark skin tones are available but the titanium dioxide content causes them to appear or turn ash.What is the ingredient in make-up that darker-toned women should avoid to prevent an ';ashy'; appearance?
i have no idea but would like to know. have you tried to google it (10 years younger)?
I wish I had an answer for you! If you find out, let me know!! Myself, I just stay away from anything (foundations and powders) that has too much blue tone in it. Every darker color foundation has the primary colors (red, yellow, blue) in it. The ones that have warmer tones, (more red than blue) are better for women with skin other than white.

Also, I've found that the bare minerals powder (dark) is the worst for making darker skin look ';ashy!';
Lots of makeup look ';ashy/gray'; on darker skinned women because there is too much pink pigment in them. Yet the majority of foundations/concealers on the market (drugstore) are make with too much pink. Try to go to a deparment store or somewhere like Perscriptives or MAC where there is a much larger selection of colours or they can custom blend.
If your a dark black woman, all you need is a tone right for your skin.Lighter is for darks,and darks is for lights...if you go for dark to dark you WILL LOOK ASHY,but if you wind up with light to light....you will look pale...if you have any more questions about this,contact me at yahoo.com/carriekem
