Will the referees make up for their non-call (during Game 4) tonight when the Lakers take on the Spurs?

NBA: Foul should have been called at end of Game 4Will the referees make up for their non-call (during Game 4) tonight when the Lakers take on the Spurs?
Since when do the refs ever call a traveling like that? They never do! Traveling in the NBA is just part of the game like the flops have become. No ref calls that a travel so get over it. It's hard to shoot a ball when you have a guy basically jumping on top of you. The Spurs shouldn't have been in that position anyways.

The calls were bad on both ends. I'm so sick of these refs having make up calls. I think it's BS! ';Damn I just missed that call! Oh I'll make up for it on the other end.'; They should just admit they missed a call and not have a make up call. That just makes the game that much worse to watch.

When you have a ref that is 10ft from that play, you have to call that. People say he didn't sell it. He shouldn't have had to sell it. Since when is it not a foul when you have a guy bump into while you're trying to shoot? That gets called all season. If you don't believe me, watch footage of Kobe, Dirk and Manu.

Not a Spurs nor a Lakers fan by the way. Just a fan that hates watching crappy officiated games on both ends of the floor.

So an answer to your question, I hope they don't try to have a make up call in the next game because with that make up call, another has to be for that one. It's a never ending issue. Will the referees make up for their non-call (during Game 4) tonight when the Lakers take on the Spurs?
ref rule basketball. Report Abuse

you mean the Travel that should have been called on Barry on that very play as well?

Replay:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=lDc31xBkBg0

What happened:

1) Barry catches the inbounds pass from Horry with two feet set.

2) Barry moves his left foot back, therefore his right foot is now the legal pivot foot.

3) Barry now moves his right foot back (pivot foot), which makes his left foot the pivot foot (called shuffling) and dribbles

Rules:

http://www.nba.com/analysis/rules_10.htm鈥?/a>

a. The pivot foot may be lifted, but not returned to the playing court,

before the ball is released on a pass or try for goal;

b. The pivot foot shall not be lifted before the ball is released to start a

dribble.

Therefore, not only did he shuffle his feet, he also moved it before he released the ball.

That's 2 traveling violations on one play.

But people are complaining about the foul call, and not acknowledging the travel that happened simulataneously.

Edit: The conspiracy of LA/Boston final is ridiculous. It would not live up to the hype. Remember the previous 2 games this season, there was all this hype leading up to them, and what happened? Boston came in and gave LA a beating they won't forget. I would much rather have an LA/Detroit final.

Edit: Yes, the NBA may not call this traveling violation a lot, but that doesn't take away the fact that it is a traveling violation and should be called.

Edit: BuonoCJ, It is a travel, watch the replay, he CLEARLY changes his pivot foot. You obviously can't tell what a travel is. How can you change your pivot foot and not be called for a travel? E.g. Okay I'll use my right foot as a pivot foot, and then oh wait nvm I'll change to my left foot as the pivot and move my right foot. You realize how ignorant your post sounds?
It was a bad no-call. It happens. What would it mean for the refs to make up for it tonight? Not send Kobe to the charity stripe?

The NBA Conspiracy Theory is getting out of control. Seriously, if the NBA hated the Spurs as much as everyone says, why do they have four championships since 1999? Why would they let the ';boring'; Spurs beat the ';exciting'; Suns in last year's conference semi-final? If it was all about marketing conspiracies, why do the Knicks suck so much? How did the NBA allow the ';boring'; Spurs to beat the Knicks for the championship in 1999? How come Cleveland was allowed to draft Lebron, and not NY, or LA, or Chicago?
to Ball dont lie - it would have been a travel had he not also been starting his dribble...since he as starting his dribble at the same time he moved the foot then its not a travel. There was a foul and the NBA acknowledged that today.

Tony e - that was a goal tend the ball hit the back board then it was hit by a laker player...after the ball touches the back board it cant be touched until it is obvious the ball will not go in.

Im sure there will be a call or non call in the nextgame that everyone will say was to make-up for that foul not being called.
not if david stern and the league can help it...

hey maybe the nba will put joey crawford as the head official again?

even if they make up for the non-foul in game 4...it's not like it's going to help the spurs...they've (nba) clearly stacked the odds against the spurs already by fixing game 4...

there's no way the spurs can win 4 in a row...

the nba has done it's job...they've eliminated the spurs from the finals...

it's because the spurs style of play and market area doesn't generate enough viewers and revenue for the league...so ofcourse Los Angeles is a better choice...
Your not supposed to give make up calls. It happens, but its not supposed to.

Of course, could Barry's non-call be a make up call on the goal tending call, the missed 24 second clock violation call, and the Duncan running all the way from the opposing free throw line dunk traveling non-call? Bad refereeing on both sides. Its a shame that they are playing too much of a role in the game. Refs should be background players to keep things honest, not game deciders.
Oh my goodness, Spurs Fans-your team lost-get over it!! First off, a game shouldn't be decided by one call-if you can't get it done, then one call isn't going to make a difference.

As far as a makeup call-a make up call for which one? Timmy D's 5 step layup from the 3 point line? Or the 24 clock mess up? Which jacked up call would you be referring to?

Lakers in 5, by the way.
The Spurs have already got more than their fair share of the calls. They wouldnt have even been in the game if it wasnt for the Refs getting them back in it with the BS fouls they were giving to Parker every time he went to the hoop
They already did! They didn't call the ball hitting the rim, so they made up for the call by allowing the play. Plus, it would have only been 2 free throws and not 3, since Brent Barry was dribbling!
they should have called traveling on barry. and duncan, and parker, and the ball hit the rim, twice with no reset of the shot clock. too many no calls to pick one.
Of course the refs wont make up for that non-call. That would be totally UNETHICAL. Stern will not allow that to happen!! lolol
